Ezra Jake Agnew
(A Small Victory). Ezra Jake Agnew was born in Maine but raised on Martha's Vineyard.
This makes him both a maniac and a Masshole, so he's got that going for
him. His show consists mostly of Heavy Metal, punk and hardcore but you
never know when something silly will get slipped in. At home he
secretly listens to Chick rock with all the lights turned off while
sipping tea and crying. Check out his blog http://www.countshockula.blogspot.com. It includes his play list, archives, links, and more.

Shawn Barber, aka Bones (Hitch a Ride). They
say you can take the boy out of Cape Cod but you can't take the Cape
Cod out of the boy. I don't know if that means somewhere in there
there's a golfer screaming to be heard or that I'll always have a leg
up in the "Can navigate a rotary" category. Now a Vineyard resident,
but still a wash-ashore on both counts, Bones developed a deep an
incurable sarcasm and thirst for music with darker and more tragically
comic themes; rebel country, whiskey, women, and murder. The story of
the straw that broke the camels backed then whipped me across the back
of the neck, and how I returned to Martha's Vineyard and needed to
become a WVVY dj unfolds like this:
A Pub Crawl into Soul-death USA...
I was bored out of my open-mic mind, sitting in a "blues bar" (Proudly
playing the same chord changes since 1947) watching a couple of "dudes"
ramming their way through my two least favorite/most played bands: Bon
Jovi and Jimmy Buffet, when the long haired one decided to "take a
break," or maybe to give our ears a break. While he set very ornate
leaf-finish red Ovation (just like the one Richie Sambora used in the
Dead or Alive video) quietly in its stand, I worked up what little
dignity I had left, spit it into a cocktail napkin, and crossed the
room to offer to play a few tunes, only to be told by the longer haired
dude that he doesn't loan out the Ovation since he put a brand new set
of expensive guitar strings on it. My pupils dilated. I laughed a scary
laugh that wouldn't stop. Scanned the room for witnesses. Went back to
my table. Not only had I already let myself down for contributing
lyrics to the Nibbling on Spongecake song, I was now being rejected
from something I didn't want anything to do with in the first place.
Regretting my new drink, I vowed over and over again until it was gone
to never return, unless to demonstrate to visiting friends why I was
depressed which I would do later, brushed the dignity napkin to the
floor, went home and starting packing....You did me a great favor Bon
Jovi Dude, thanks.

Josie & Ramona Black
(Black Out Thursdays). Think the radio station is too small for a dance
party? Think it is impossible to operate the equipment when blacked out
drunk?
We (the sisters of Blackout Thursday) strongly disagree. You may find
it strange that two girls born in South Africa would have such a large
collection of Americana music. But here we are, every Thursday night
from 6-8, coming at you with amazing bluegrass, rockin’ blues, some
good old time music and lord knows what else.
Ramona Black, the older of the two Blackout sisters, enjoys spending
her island days telescoping for stars and wet suiting beneath the deep
cold ocean.
Josie Black, the taller of the two, enjoys chipping away at tiles with
small hand tools, making lists in order to cross items off and
generally organizing things. (ANY THINGS)
So that is pretty much everything about us. We come together each week
with fun and eclectic sets. So check us out this Thursday.

Maury de Geofroy
(Monkey on the Lam). The son of a Yard Worker and a Hippie, was born in
Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. He rose from poverty to lower middle class
with the strong work ethic of a true American. Through elbow grease,
perseverance, and a healthy dose of nepotism he found himself living
year round on Martha's Vineyard, keeping himself, and the American
dream alive with beer and meat. He found his voice on WVVY and was
overjoyed to finally shove his musical tastes down the throats of
listeners everywhere, rather than just those in his immediate vicinity.
Maury likes indie and electronic music, among other things. He likes
books about Tralfamadorians. He does not like pickles but he goes out
of his way to eat them whenever they are available, only to realize yet
again that he does not like them. Check out his blog http://www.maurydegeofroy.com/ - his website includes Twitter updates, original graphic art and web designs, and more.

Gregg Harcourt & Mary Wolverton
(Matties Mix). Traditional music - of all kinds with an emphasis on
acoustic music.
Each show will feature music from many genres: a Brazilian cover of a
Bob Marley song, an old timey banjo tune, a Coltrane gem, kora music
from Mali.........
We have a strong background in Irish music and lots of recordings from
concerts that we have produced.
We love the chance to explore the connections that happen between
musicians of different cultures.
And we love to share the air with all the DJs who have different
musical backgrounds.

Russ Hartenstine, aka Dr. Jazz
(Dr. Jazz). Dr. Jazz was born in 1920. The child of Jelly Roll Morton
and an unidentified mother from New Orleans, he was brought up by
roadies while on tour with Jelly across the country. From his earliest
memories, Dr. Jazz was privileged to listen to his father and
contemporaries create a new, American musical heritage that has become
one of the most beloved musical forms throughout the world. Some
criticize his credentials as a PhD of Jazz, but listeners are
encouraged to judge for themselves on his credentials or experience.
Dr. Jazz looks forward to continuing his father's tradition to bring
this great musical art form to the Vineyard and looks forward to any
discussions on Jazz, Art and the Musical Experience. Listen Friday
nights, 9-Midnight.
